The Dinner

The Westin Ottawa
Every year following his death in 2013, friends of the late Senator Doug Finley had come together to celebrate and honour his memory.
In 2015, it was decided that this annual gathering between friends should be expanded to share his legacy of equality, inclusiveness, mentorship and loyalty with everyone in the conservative family and beyond.
A legend of the modern conservative movement, you don’t need to know Doug or his circle to considered one of the political insiders at this must-attend event. All willing to toast the great man are welcome to join the ‘family’.
The Doug Finley Dinner experience is that of a family reunion where new members are added each year. The evening begins with a lively reception followed by a dinner served family style, with no assigned seating. The dinner is never ‘rubber chicken’. In past years, we have served classic BBQ, roasts, while and this year’s meal comes from Ottawa mainstay The Whalesbone as they present their own twist on the ‘Tory Tuesday’ surf and turf tradition.
Every year our speakers include familiar faces from the conservative family who engage those gathered with off-the-record toasts, building on themes of Doug’s timeless life lessons and always sharing an inappropriate story or two. In 2016, we heard from Conservative Party of Canada interim-Leader Rona Ambrose. In 2017, we organized rapid fire speeches from each of the Conservative Party of Canada leadership contestants. In 2018, we hosted Conservative Party of Canada Leader the Hon. Andrew Scheer. In 2019, we featured Members of Parliament from coast-to-coast as we headed into an election.
In 2018 a silent auction was also added to the agenda to allow guests an opportunity to bid on priceless political memorabilia and experiences for themselves or the history buff in their life.
So, if you’re up for being regaled with stories that made Doug and his record of winning elections so special, come join us!
We welcome old and new to join us to celebrate his legacy of inclusiveness, mentorship and community.
The funds raised this evening will go to a scholarship program that supports youth pursuing advocacy and community engagement programs.
